What a lot of you won’t know is that I first started working with Free People personally just before I made the move to Sydney in 2019, they had recently opened their first store in London and previous to that I’d used them when styling clients. They were all about casual, effortless dressing which I’ve always been a big fan of and they’d been a source of inspiration to me for all things care-free and Summer since discovering them when I’d visited the US.
Since starting Substack my audience has grown and I wanted to re-introduce everyone to Free People’s FREE-EST collection. These are Free People’s very own designs and also the pieces that I always gravitate towards myself on their website, which actually includes a whole host of other designers. What I’ve always loved and still do about their collection is that I always feel inspired by them, the colours, fabrics, how you can style the pieces up or dress them down, I have so many items in my wardrobe that I reach for again and again and they are the brand that I get the most people ask me when I’m out where something is from as, I think this is because every item feels original and has a designer edge to it.
I’ve just put together a July haul of FREE-EST and here is my wide edit.
Starting with the most incredible 70s style bikini ahhhhhh (L) that cut on the briefs . . .
Also this colour way . . . . (L)

The perfect white vest, slightly baggy, a low scoop so you get a flash of bikini (M)
Such a beautiful set and perfect for hot Summer nights when you want to feel comfy (M)
I actually think it’s really hard to find very simple linen pieces sometimes, this is exactly how I would want a strapless linen mini-dress to be (L)
The same goes for a linen mini skirt, love a bright colour with a white tee or anything with a white tee, always (L)
THIS 70s green and the shorts would look cool with a simple white tee or the above vest (L)
A white t-shirt to go with the above two bottom halves (S)
These colours so GOOD (L)
This dress, such a lovely option for holiday (L)
You can’t go wrong with a simple white t-shirt dress (M)
Your Summer version of the knitted tank with adjustable straps to make that v as low or high as you like, winner ! (M)
Two things that I’m currently loving in one set, strapless tops and bermuda shorts (L)
So full disclosure, this colour way wasn’t our when I ordered this set and as much as I love the blue, I wish I’d waited for this one, such a GOOD set (M)
Love this colour and such a pretty neckline, I feel like it would work well asa long top also (M)
Short shorts, always buy at least 1 size bigger than you need (L)
and if short shorts aren’t your cuppa, then these long line line ones are such a cool option (L)
Travel look for the return journeys I can’t think of a better shade to dress in when you have glow holiday skin (L)
Such an easy Summer dress (M)
I love a pop of red and these paper-bag style linen-cotton trousers are super cool (m)
A big beach tee (M)
I’m a little bit in love with these dresses and have been wanting to try this style as it seems to be everywhere at the moment, I’m definitely trying this one (L)
Hope you enjoyed this edit, I could look at Summer clothes all day : )

I’m headed to Free People! I also don’t understand why bathing suits have so little coverage these days! We certainly didn’t wear them this small in the 70s!! Thanks for your all you do to help us with new choices each week!💖
I'm off to Kephalonia for 5 nights 22nd July with my best friend, not had a girls holiday since I was 19! Now 59! Great packing ideas, as I'm so out of practise plus only taking one personal bag and that's the underseat bag. Challenge MUCH xx
