Every Last Sunday
Welcome to my first monthly newsletter which will drop at 3pm on the last Sunday of the month, focusing on all things LIFE not style . . .

Matcha w/ coconut milk and MCT oil.
Bloody hell where have I been ?? well Sydney’s Northern Beaches which as it happens is pretty health forward but I guess you only happen upon these things or go looking for them when you truly need then. I’ve not been feeling myself now for months, tired and flat really FLAT, low iron iron levels lead to me having an infusion and a B12 shot in late December and further tests confirmed I that I’m peri-menopausal, FUN. I’m trying lots of different things to easy the symptoms ( I will share more if I see anymore fast and positive results from a product ) but the BEST so far for the flatness which hung around after my energy came back post-iron infusion has been magically cured in the last week. I wasn’t even looking to address it as I wasn’t aware how flat I was feeling, it find of crept up on me. I haven’t been drinking matcha for that long and I thought I’d try some MCT oil in it as I’d been looking into fasting to help with menopausing symptoms and MCT comes up a lot as it’s something you can have during a fast, I digress. So basically I didn’t consider that I would feel any different, but WOW 30 minutes after drinking a cup I started feeling weirdly good, like normal me, my boyfriend even noticed “what’s up with you ?” I told him I felt chilled but happy and that I’d had this drink with MCT in it, the results lasted all evening, I went to sleep and it didn’t affect that (thank god) When I woke up though I was aware that something had changed and I felt a bit blah again, so I made myself another cup and carried on with the morning and sure enough 30 minutes or so later I got the feeling back. I’ve been having it 3 times a day for just under 2 weeks now and after about 4/5 days I stopped feeling flat in the morning. It’s improved my focus and generally made me a much nicer person to be around.
THE TAKEAWAY - If you are feeling a bit flat I cannot recommend trying this enough, just try it (nothing to lose right ??) I honestly feel like it’s rewired my brain to a certain degree a bit as bonkers as that sounds, maybe not as this study found
Here is what I’m using brand wise. I have a 1 tsp of matcha and 1 tsp of MCT when I wake up at 6am and another around midday and again at 5pm which gives me happy vibes, motivation, thought clarity and energy until bedtime and I’m sleeping and having no trouble falling asleep, basically it hasn’t effected my sleep.
1 tsp Matcha (brand details below)
1 tsp MCT (must contain C6,C7,C10) (brand details below)
Mixed with warm or cold coconut milk (brand details below)
Here is the product label if you can’t get the Melrose brand so you know what elements you are looking for to hopefully experience the same benefits that I have.
Here is the coconut milk that I’ve replaced oat and almond milk for. The reason I’ve done this is to reduce my consumption of any nasty vegetable oils that these products are often mixed with and produce high amounts of inflammation in the body.
I am so intrigued by the fast results from this combination that if anyone else has this and swears by it or tries it I would love to know in the comments, also if you have any more holistic ways of dealing with peri-symptoms ! Share away I know myself and the rest of the world would LOVE to know.

*I am late to the party on this (everyone I’ve spoken to about it watched it a year ago ha), but if I am, I’m sure some others will be too, so I’m sharing what I’m doing real time and by what I’ve just said you’ll know this newsletter isn’t a place to stop by if you are looking for reviews on the latest releases, I’m not that cool . . . and I’m totally okay with that : )) anyway with my declaration of un-coolness out of the way, we are currently watching . . . .
BEEF. On Netflix, I don’t make enough time in my life for TV and one of my NYR was to watch more, I know that sounds odd even as I type it but since post iron infusion I’m managing to stay awake past 7pm and powered by MCT and Matcha I can make it to 9.45pm ( my Oura bedtime - more on that another time) I’ve loved escaping into a show of an evening. Emmy award winning BEEF popped up on Netflix and we’re on ep 7 and loving it. A comedy drama that’s equal parts dark, clever and highly topical with lots of uncomfortable moments all to a brilliant 90s soundtrack (this morning I listened to Tori Amos’ Cornflake Girl in the car) Brilliant performances by Steven Yuen and Ali Wong. There are only 10 episodes and they are all 30 mins long which I love as it means I can squeeze 1 or 2 in before bed.

I’ve been wearing my Red light mask again, I got out of the rhythm and I swear it works as I was looking back at photos and my skin definitely looked better around the time I was using it a lot. I keep mine in my bedside cabinet and use it as part of my new morning routine and one i’m really going to try and stick to. I wake up and put my mask on straight away (i’ve swapped the strap that goes across the back of your head for a silk scarf so it’s soft and doesn’t pull on my hair. I put the mask on, lie there for 5 mins and then get up. Obviously like all routines this is highly child dependant : )
*I’m also avoiding using my phone until I start my work day and by putting this mask on in bed has helped me break that habit which is actually a longer story and one I haven’t fully implemented yet so I’ll circle back next month and let you know how my plan is going to disconnect more.
