The top 5 mum friendly pieces in my wardrobe . . . .
Boyfriend shirt, I literally throw mine on over gym leggings, shorts, a swimsuit, jeans, tracksuit pants, basically VERSATILE ! Pick a colour that works for you for an instant injection of life into your outfit and skin, needed when you haven’t had a full 8 hours. I wear a 16 in this style and you can still use the ANGIE20 code on all WNU items until 24th May.
Leggings, I live in mine, especially when the weather can’t make up its mind and I have errands to run, if you are bored of your legging then switch up the colour, I rarely wear black anymore unless it’s Winter and actually prefer, brown, navy and green ( my favourite styles are the ribbed seamless below and the rise above )
I wear a large in both styles.
A raincoat that I can throw over any outfit to make it weather proof. I love the colour of this one as it’s softer than a black but stronger than a beige, I recently got a second hand beige cropped one but the fabric is matt, it’s weird but I wouldn’t have gone for it if it was the same length and fabric as this one that works so well being olive. I’m wear a 12. I’m working on finding a similar style to my thrifted one.
My cross body bag. Someone could have been hurt had it not have been for me being able to be completely hands free when Dusty started walking, or running shall we say. I looped Gus’ lead through this so I knew he couldn’t disappear and then I had 2 hands free to wrangle Dust, I’ve recently bought myself a Summer version of it.
Track pants, I’m not sure what it is about being pregnant and not wearing jeans but now I can only do over-sized or a straight / wide leg or urrrr track pants, they’ve basically taken over my wardrobe as of last Summer. I’ve spoken to girlfriends about this as we all agree that those jeans that we used to squeeze ourselves into I’m not even sure who that girl is anymore, they are long gone esp one said track pant has been tried and tested. So they are essentially my new denim of choice.
Brands to look at for wedding guest options
Some of my favourite brands for wedding guest options are ;
Reformation they have created their own wedding guest edit tab, genius
Doen one of the most romantic brands around, their pieces are timeless and iconic
Sir I love how their dresses all follow a similar silhouette so you know that you can slip a slightly over-sized blazer over any of these and you are’ guest ready - see taupe linen blazer below . . .
Aligne If you are after a two piece option then I always find something flattering and colourful from these guys, their tailoring is really good, I wear a 12 top and 12 or 14 in trousers depending on how baggy I want them.
Oroton I’m a big fan of this Aussie brand that does tailoring and fun so well, see dress below from a wedding I attended last year.
My favourite Australian brands
The Upside - Active wear and everyday easy to style pieces with a heritage twist
Lucy Folk - Special treat, one of a kind pieces.
Matteau - Great swimwear basics and cover ups.
Bassike - Beautiful tailoring and basics.
Sir - Occasion wear, always does a *nice top to wear with jeans.
Haulier - Unisex brand, really good boxer shorts and cool PJ style jackets + SOCKS
Going out Summer heels
I don’t wear heels at all since moving to Sydney BUT I have one pair of brown leather platforms by Prada in my wardrobe and they are VERY similar to this style below
Best long and short sleeve white tee
Short sleeve - REDONE above (L), LESET (L), BASSIKE (M), ROLLAS (L) - they now ship to UK and this is such a good one, its the one that I wear a lot that now has holes in that a lot of you comment on !!
Long sleeved - BASSIKE and Navy Grey have a lovely one that’s coming out soon.
Favourite white jeans if you could only pick one pair
This is so hard but I’m going to go with these as they are also under 100 quid
I wear a 30.
Cool girl Bermuda shorts
I feel like these are pretty understated
also I give you the elevated Bermudas for the city / evening, whatever you fancy really
A nice top that works with wide leg jeans
I’d be wearing an off-white style with this top in particular OR a real true 70s blue. Do a little front tuck or tuck in all the way around and then lift your arms in the air for the right amount of puff.
*See wide leg jeans above
A travel outfit
I like something matchy-matchy when it comes to travelling, it just makes me feel more pulled together especially for long haul. So it has to be PJ style trousers and a sweater or cardigan, layered over a thin white tee see above. I always wear sandals or something that I’m going to wear whilst I’m at the destination so there’s less to pack too. I also love and have worn this set below a few times when travelling long haul and I always get somebody stop to ask where it’s from.
Closed toe flat shoes that I need to own
Well it all depends on personal preference but here are my favourite styles in my wardrobe that I get the most wear from . . .
AGS basket ballet pumps below
A swimsuit that works with boobs
I’ve had my Eres one before my pregnancy 32d, during 32 god only knows and I’m still wearing it 32e but that depends on the time of the month (bloody hormones have a lot to answer for) I’ve also recommended to people with boobs before and they start by being skeptical as there isn’t any under wiring but when they, try they love it ! I guess because it doesn’t feel structured or like you are being pushed up or sucked in, in an uncomfortable way, anyway, try it I sized up to a 42.
A cool dress that you could wear over trousers and it 100% not look weird
Love this dress and the fabric is so good for not creasing. Definitely a great piece to have on hand to create some new looks, I love this silhouette with a cropped jacket layered over also.
A trainer that ticks all the boxes
Plain but still with a bit of something, can work as ‘smart’ trainers with a suit, also works with jeans, bias cut skirts, well anything really
A Linen Blazer
Linen blazer buy one size too big and add a vest and some faded vintage denim, flip flops and a simple leather tote and you have a really effortless look, also I think this shade is so hard to find usually and it’s still in full stock as they just launched their Summer collection : )
Dungarees
Dungarees . . . always stick to a classic style when it comes to these. I take a large.
A pop of green
A nice trouser suit
From my days in London running around as a stylist I would always go to Jigsaw for a well tailored and easy to wear, 2 piece suit. I haven’t tried them personally but this one by Me&Em also looks great online and you can always count on Aligne as I’ve mentioned before to have a great two piece tailored options on their site all year round.
I hope this has been helpful and thank you to everyone who replied to my message on instagram, I have so many more questions that I haven’t answered so I shall be saving them for the next one.
