The Easy Autumn Uniform Formula
that I wear year after year . . . . .
Autumn is finally here in the Northern Hemisphere, which means the wardrobe shift begins, time to layer up (at last). Right on cue, Sézane, French masters of colour, quality, and that timeless-but-cool aesthetic, have dropped so many new pieces in the last few weeks and I’ve been taking note of the best bits that make up a very easy formula for autumn, meaning less time thinking about what to wear and no time getting dressed but before I get into that, here are my favourite’s that are online now.
The Classics
Sézane’s knitwear is made for autumn and they have so many lovely cardigans that are perfect for wearing as a jacket over a vest with jeans, right up to layering over a fine knit when the weather turns freezing. Come spring, wear them again over a vest top or tee, and come the colder evenings in summer, wear with mens boxers and a tee / vest - a cardigan for all seasons - well that’s how I wear mine / majority of my wardrobe.

The Suede Jacket
Sézane have two that jumped out at me, the first fringed number that is the perfect length and cut so as not to be in the slightest way bulky, which can happen with suede. The next a little more country with beautiful stitching details. Both can be introduced to every piece of denim in my wardrobe as well as an easy wear over dresses.

The 90s tartan trousers
These are giving me major ‘Blossom’ vibes which I adore, the cut is super flattering which is also a concern when dealing with a high waist and a statement print but they’ve balanced every element well.
The skinny jean
Hear me out, I will never be wearing skinny anything again as they just don’t flatter my frame BUT I can get onboard with this style as I’m wearing them in a 14 and I measure a small 12 so they look more like a cropped straight . . .
Which leads me nicely to the two accessories I’ve chosen, a chunky burgundy SUPER COMFY from the get-go loafer, and a suede bag in a tone that works with every single piece I chose.
The Formula:
Cool jacket or cardigan + white tee or vest + jeans or statement trousers with loafers or white Stan Smith style trainers. On paper, it’s simple. In reality, it looks effortlessly pulled together, because each piece is elevated, well-cut, and designed with the kind of detail that makes you reach for it year after year.
Until next week.
